Data Observability Engineer (NV1) – Secure Analytics & Monitoring
Join a hands-on engineering team building and maturing data observability and analytics capabilities across complex, secure environments. You’ll design, implement and support monitoring/analytics tooling (think Elastic/ELK and NetFlow), automate repeatable processes, and contribute to technical documentation and integration outcomes for a high-impact program.

Location: Canberra, ACT (Onsite – Symonston)
- Contract Duration: March 2026 to 30 October 2027 + two (2) x 12-month extension options
- Security Clearance: Must hold a current NV1 (or higher) clearance
- Closing Date: 10:00am Friday 13 February 2026
Essential Tasks:
- Design, build and implement data observability and analytics tooling (Elastic/ELK, NetFlow).
- Develop and maintain observability practices/procedures, including root cause analysis and optimisation advice.
- Collaborate with engineering and validation teams to deploy/maintain experimental systems and support architectural decisions.
- Provide SME support, reporting, and technical uplift (including just-in-time training as required).
Key Criteria:
- Strong data observability/analytics experience (Elastic/ELK, Elastic Stack, NetFlow).
- Advanced Linux capability (Red Hat environments) plus automation/scripting (e.g., Python/Bash/PowerShell).
- DevSecOps and integration experience (CI/CD e.g., GitLab, APIs, networking/virtualisation).
