As an experienced Google Cloud Engineer, you’ll join the Cumulus 1.0B project to help stand up a secure Google Cloud Platform (GCP) hosting environment for a major federal government client, validating the proposed design, building a Protected Landing Zone, and ensuring compliance with strict architecture, security and connectivity standards.

Essential Tasks

• Validate and refine the proposed GCP solution and Landing Zone against cloud best practice and security standards.
• Design and implement GCP solutions using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Config Connector, FabricFast, ACM) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Build and support core GCP services including networking (VPC, NAT, load balancing, interconnects), containers (GKE) and serverless (Cloud Run, App Engine).
• Manage and optimise the GCP platform, including cost management, monitoring/logging, backup/recovery and security guardrails.

Key Criteria

• 5+ years’ experience as a Google Cloud Engineer/Architect, leveraging the GCP Well-Architected Framework to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
• Deep hands-on experience with GCP data and storage services (Cloud Storage, Filestore, NetApp Volumes, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore, Spanner, Bigtable, Kafka/managed services).
• Strong background in platform governance: IAM, Organisation Policy Service, Security Command Centre, tagging strategy, APIs and guardrails.
• Certified Associate Cloud Engineer (required) and ideally Professional Cloud Architect, with experience in regulated or security-conscious environments (e.g. ISM, PSPF, Essential 8).
