Data Engineer (Power BI & Fabric) – Canberra
Are you a senior Power BI professional who thrives on building enterprise-grade reporting and data solutions? We are seeking an experienced Lead Power BI & Data Engineer to deliver high-quality dashboards, semantic models, and modern data pipelines in a fast-paced government environment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong Microsoft Fabric, Power BI administration, and data engineering capability who can translate complex business needs into secure, scalable analytics solutions.

Contract Duration: 12 months initial term with 2 x 12 month extension options

Essential Tasks:
- Design, develop and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
- Build and manage enterprise semantic models, Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions within Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop and optimise data pipelines, data models and transformations using DAX, Power Query (M), SQL and Fabric Data Factory.
- Manage Power BI administration, security, governance and performance across workspaces, datasets and related BI artifacts.
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar Power BI Developer / Data Engineer role.
- Strong technical capability across DAX, Power Query (M), SQL and data modelling.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake architecture, Dataflows Gen2 and Fabric pipelines.
- Knowledge of Azure services, RLS, tenancy administration, licensing and BI security best practices.
