Senior Cyber Security Systems Engineer – NV2 / TSPV | Multi-State

Join a high-security Australian Government cyber program delivering security uplift for multiple agencies, designing and implementing security controls from OFFICIAL through to TOP SECRET systems. This long-term EL1-equivalent engagement offers a 3-year runway, NV2/TSPV work, and the chance to be a hands-on SME influencing national cyber resilience, predominantly onsite in ACT, VIC or NSW (with limited flexible work options negotiable).

Contract Details
- Contract Duration: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions (up to 3 years total)
- Security Clearance Requirement: Current NV2 or TSPV security clearance (TSPV preferred; no upgrade sponsorship)
- Deliver specialist security systems engineering advice, design and implementation across multiple Australian Government entities, from OFFICIAL to TOP SECRET environments.
- Implement and remediate security controls across technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, secure networks/gateways, cross domain solutions/diodes, SIEM (e.g. Sentinel/Splunk), Linux/Unix, Windows and cloud platforms.
- Develop and maintain high-quality security engineering documentation including SOPs, Requests for Change, design documentation and as-built/as-configured artefacts.
- Lead and participate in security design and remediation workshops, prototyping and testing security configurations aligned with the ISM, Essential Eight and other cyber security standards.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer, providing advice, design, implementation and remediation across one or more of: Microsoft AD, networking/gateways/SDN, cross domain solutions/diodes, Sentinel or Splunk, enterprise Linux/Unix (e.g. RHEL), cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) and/or complex Windows enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively in hybrid or remote teams, while providing direction and setting work tasks that align with organisational and strategic objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record producing technical documentation, reports, presentations and senior executive briefings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (or equivalent training/certifications) and demonstrated experience identifying, implementing and applying security controls in complex environments (desirable).
