Job Title: Senior Systems Gateway Engineer - AWS, Palo Alto & Secure Networks

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure and security specialist who can lead gateway design, firewall implementation, hybrid connectivity, and operational uplift while helping deliver resilient, high-performing geospatial and cloud-enabled services in a sensitive government setting.

Contract Duration: 12 months from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, with possible 2 x 12-month extension options

Essential Tasks:
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of secure gateways, firewalls, and network connectivity across AWS and hybrid environments
- Deploy and maintain Palo Alto firewall solutions, including routing, NAT, high availability, and secure remote access
- Deliver advanced troubleshooting, incident response, and operational support for network and security services
- Develop technical documentation, runbooks, and repeatable deployment methods using Infrastructure as Code and automation
- Strong experience designing and supporting secure gateway and perimeter network architectures across enterprise and cloud environments
- Hands-on expertise with AWS networking including VPCs, Transit Gateway, VPNs, Direct Connect, routing, and hybrid connectivity
- Proven experience with Palo Alto firewalls and services including Panorama, GlobalProtect, threat prevention, and policy optimisation
- Experience integrating firewall and gateway solutions with logging, SIEM, identity, and security controls using Zero Trust and least-privilege principles
