Technical Specialist Engineer – Networks & Service Modernisation
We are seeking a highly capable Technical Specialist Engineer to provide specialist engineering advice and independent oversight across complex capability initiatives in a secure Canberra-based environment. This role will apply deep technical expertise across protected communications and gateway services to shape scope, assess options, document constraints and support informed engineering and investment decisions. You will play a key role in helping determine which existing services should be retained, modernised or transitioned, while supporting defensible, value-for-money outcomes across a complex technical landscape.

Contract Duration: 12 months
Security Clearance Requirement: Due to the nature of this environment, candidates must hold a current NV1 clearance.

Essential Tasks:
- Provide specialist engineering advice to define scope, assumptions, options and delivery considerations for complex initiatives.
- Lead or support baseline analysis, service design documentation and transition or modernisation strategies.
- Assess feasibility, risks, dependencies and constraints, with evidence-based recommendations for decision making.
- Contribute to testing, validation, assurance and compliance activities across complex technical environments.
- Deep technical expertise across protected communications, terrestrial network services and gateway integrations.
- Strong experience delivering specialist engineering advice within complex Defence or similarly secure environments.
- Advanced analytical, modelling and documentation capability with the ability to work under broad direction.
- Proven experience as a senior technical specialist, principal engineer or practitioner supporting complex engineering outcomes.
