Step into a pivotal Security Engineer (TSPV) role supporting mission-critical national security systems, working across the full software lifecycle to design, build and operate advanced ICT security capabilities. You’ll be hands-on with modern security tooling (firewalls, EDR, SIEM, automation and more), collaborating in a high-performance team within a secure federal government environment.

Location: QLD, ACT, VIC, SA (onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 months, with 2 x 12-month extension options

Security Clearance Requirement: Due to the nature of this environment, candidates are required to have a TSPV clearance to perform this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate and enhance ICT security systems across the full software lifecycle (definition, requirements, design, development, integration, verification and validation).
  • Develop, operate and tune security controls including next-generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, web application firewalls, EDR, NDR, SIEM, vulnerability scanning, PKI and encryption solutions.
  • Build and maintain security monitoring, log analysis and security automation capabilities to detect, analyse and respond to threats.
  • Review and uplift system security controls, guide technical staff on control implementation, and support secure deployment and ongoing monitoring of systems in line with organisational security plans.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven knowledge of information security principles, practices and technologies, with strong experience developing and administering ICT security systems and applications (5+ years ICT, including 3+ years as a Security Engineer preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and/or Windows administration plus scripting/programming (e.g. Python and PowerShell) to automate security and operational tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience in vulnerability management and one or more of: endpoint detection and response, user behaviour analytics and/or SIEM tools.
  • Experience developing use cases, procedures and technical documentation, with the ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and support technical leadership as required.
